Brenda-Druecker-Inquire-150x150

This session is a fun look at the exciting things that happen when educators step outside their classrooms and try new tools. It reinforces the importance of relationships while encouraging teachers to become learners again through positive examples of student success. I will also discuss the topic of self-directed professional development and describe what it takes to build your own “personal learning network”.

Virtual Integrity

One can barely go a day without reading something about digital citizenship and the ethical use of media. This presentation demonstrates a new approach to teaching Internet Safety. How can our belief system affect not only what media we consume and purchase, but also how we view and use the Internet. The presentation will focus on virtues and how they should assist the 21st century student in decision-making about media and Internet use through the perspective of personal integrity.

Powerful Tools 4 Challenging Times

In this presentation I explore the amazing and abundant free and affordable tools that we can use to offset costs, maximize effect and drive improvement in schools and businesses. I also explore topics like multi-tasking, quick researching and information literacy while seeking to help participants imagine ways they can empower students to become skillful in using the tools of today.

Tradigital History

Traditional history classrooms have centered around the teacher as the expert and students learning by wrote memorization. The 21st Century history classroom allows students to become historians by interacting with digital primary sources. This workshop shows how to turn a traditional classroom into a tradigital history classroom.

All Google All the Time

Everyone knows how to do a “Google Search” but fewer people know about many of Google’s other tools and resources. During this presentation, I demonstrate various other Google tools and services that will help your employees become more efficient users of the web thus saving time and money.

Exploring Digital Tools

In this presentation or training I explore a host of free and affordable tools that teachers can begin using tomorrow to empower learning where they live. This presentation is an always-changing exploration of a multitude of free tools we can use in schools. We explore the idea of teachers as explorers and the idea of taming the tools so we can use them in education.

Engaging Learners with Digital Tools

In this session I share free tools as well as stories about schools and classrooms that have used them to engage learners and learning. I teach educators to use exciting tools to reach even the reluctant learners. I also explore some of the tools educators can use to engage kids are growing up online while teaching them to be responsible online.

Digital Leadership

This presentation is designed for educational leaders during which I share tools and ideas for seeing the future and adapting to it in time to lead schools in positive, new directions.

What’s Your Digital Legacy

In this presentation for kids, teachers or educational leaders I explore the idea of Digital Legacy. This notion that everything people publish is forever associated with them is powerful and important and we can’t wait to start shaping student thinking around it.

Getting Personal with Social Media and Learning Networks

This session is an exploration of social networks as learning tools. Through numerous examples I will invite participants to begin developing their own Personal Learning Network. I will help participants see the effectiveness of these engaging learning environments, while sharing the importance of teaching good online behaviors. This workshop explores social media and how you can use it to your advantage. This training gives you the tools and knowledge you need to easily navigate the new world of social media. Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and social media tools such as blogs and wikis are introduced during this workshop.

Staying Safe Online and Cyber-Citizenship

This presentation explores the issues of online safety, digital citizenship and cyber-bullying. I share examples of tools and resources for helping educators and parents teach kids to be good people online. In this presentation I detail the differences between firewalls and teaching kids positive behaviors with digital tools and in virtual places. I talk about cyber-bullying and offer suggestions for guiding kids away from behaviors that are damaging to victims as well as bullies. This is a balanced conversation that illuminates many positive digital tools that educators can use to bring out the best in kids. Increase awareness and learn solutions to prevent CyberBullying by having a clear understanding of the who, what, where and how’s of Cyber Bullying. This workshop uses real life cases of how technology can be used to hurt people.
